Her unique practice is one of the only mental health centers to practice advanced neuroscientific approaches to healing that are based not only in Biblical truths, but also an understanding of God’s own design of the body/brain to heal. Karen M. Combe is a dedicated and compassionate mental health therapist with a wealth of experience in counseling and case management. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and has undergone extensive training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
Karen’s passion is to meet clients exactly “where they are,” just as Jesus did with the woman at the well. In that story, Jesus chose to walk to Samaria—a place no “self-respecting Jew” would normally go—and engaged in a conversation with a woman of questionable reputation, speaking truth into her life with compassion rather than judgment. Like this woman, we often see ourselves through a lens of anger and disdain, influenced by fragmented memories that keep the truth hidden in darkness. But this is not the life God intends for us. He offers healing by gently peeling back the scarred layers and bringing them into the light, using the brain’s natural ability to heal.
Karen invites you to come just as you are, not as you think you should be. A hand of compassion and kindness is reaching out to you, whether you find yourself at a well in the heat of the day or in a trench filled with wounds that need healing.
Before joining the team at Pneuma, Karen served as a Counselor and Case Manager at the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office Diversion Program in Gretna, LA. She also worked with the Montgomery County Department of Community Supervision and Corrections as a Community Supervision Officer.
Earlier in her career, Karen served as a Juvenile Probation Officer at the Montgomery County Juvenile Probation Department, where she conducted research, counseled families, and prepared reports for the court system.
Karen’s skills include specialized training in EMDR, and her deep commitment to her faith and community shines through in her active church membership and her strong desire to help others. Karen Combe brings a unique blend of experience, faith, and dedication to her clients, making her a valuable resource in the field of mental health therapy.
